and singer who amassed more than 240 credits on screen and stage in a

career which spanned nearly 60 years. He trained in drama and English at

the 1975 film that made him a cult figure.  Following a stroke in 2012,

Curry continued to work, doing voice-over and cameo performances.

"I want to share with anyone who sits down and reads

this that what becomes of each person hanging around Earth

is so much more than what is imaginable."

"I have been waiting for you. Muahahahahahhh.

Just a little joke there. I need to lighten the load - the vibration - of your week. I see it's been stressful. I am excited to have the Golden Ticket and be able to show up today. Your guide called out my name, “Tim. Tim Curry.”

I sprinted and leaped over the bodies to get here. Thank you for holding the door open. I bring flowers, pretty colorful ones to share. I hope you can smell their scents, oh, the perfumes of heavenly florals.

Well, now you know, you weren’t imagining me. I have been around a lot since I passed a few months ago. Boy, what a journey. I thought I would never leave, never die. I was so stuck in that old, tattered coat of mine. The stroke really did a number on me, and I struggled to participate in life, get back to my good ol’ Tim-self, but that wasn’t to happen. Too much had been damaged from the lack of oxygen, too many little grey cells compromised. Anyway, I hid many of the symptoms well, but those who knew me, they knew that parts of me were MIA. Everyone accommodated the challenges I experienced.

But I haven’t been waiting all this time to chat with you about what once was.

I want to share with anyone who sits down and reads this that what becomes of each person hanging around Earth is so much more than imaginable. I wasn’t into all the religious teaching; it just didn’t suit my nature, but if I had heard of what this side was going to present to me, I would not have worked so hard to come back from the stroke. I think that time was my Bardo, that life-purgatory between the realms. Since arriving on this new stage—the afterlife —I have discovered I had been asleep; I must have been asleep for a long time. Everything feels more real now than the dreams once performed on Earth’s stage and in films. This new existence is profound.

Guess who greeted me when I got here? My dear colleague and fellow Shakespearean actor, Allan Rickman. Ha!

He wore denim jeans and a white shirt, but also his Snape costume from Harry Potter. What a delight. And then, I wasn’t old like moments earlier; I was suddenly transformed into my young, irreverent Rocky Horror character, wearing the spiked heels and fishnet stockings as Dr. Frank-n-Furter.

Then, with an exaggerated, deep bow, Allan kissed my hand and said, “Welcome to the biggest stage you will ever perform on.” He smiled and winked, “This is one heck of a place. And you get any role you wish.”

I knew then I was in heaven. I am in heaven.

“So, Where’s God?” I quipped. He just laughed. "You will have to play and perform for that meeting. In the meantime, let’s get you situated.”

Since then, I have reacquainted myself with so many dear friends I said “goodbye” to when they moved over to this location. It has been a great reunion, with song and dance, and performances beyond what one can do with gravity holding us to Earth. Here, I can fly like Peter Pan and abandon all fear. I can be in more than one place at a time, instantly, just by thinking of it.

Movement has no interference; speed here or there, there is no matter to interact with, as one would when traveling on Earth. Here, it's nonexistent. Getting anywhere is a thought, but even that is too slow; it’s quicker than a thought, hard to explain, because thought still requires more energy than what is necessary. I should have studied physics instead of acting. I might be able to understand this. Anyway. I am everywhere, anywhere, all at once. And then... Poof!  I’m right here, with you!

As I write this, I notice the slowness of earthly movement, the gravity of time holding steady from one nanosecond to the next. It’s all in sequence. It is so damn slow on Earth.

Once I left my body behind, it was easy to acclimate to zero time, zero gravity, zero space, zero anything that pertains to a physical existence. As much as I wanted to connect back with my fellow actors and human beings, I find this incredibly difficult. I sense my thoughts now; the slowness of stringing together letters and words into sentences is exhausting. Now I understand what others here have told me about returning.

I guess, to describe this visit to your world, every particle of light must slow down to communicate with physical matter. Fascinating. They did warn me. I can hear Allan laughing at me. He tells me he visits the Earth plane often, to check in on his family.

I am tired from this first encounter with the physical life on Earth. There is so much for me to understand, but I will return if you will allow. I would like for someone to document my new role here. I know I have an awful lot to remember; my many guides and friends are here to help me recall what I’ve forgotten. It is early yet, though it feels comfortable, like a great pair of heels, you know; I could really dance in those heels, and I felt very much at home. And so it is here; I can dance, and I am home.

Thank you for allowing me into your space, for reading about me, and for this new role I get to perform."

Yours truly,

Tim Curry
